You can order your repeat prescription in the following ways

For all methods (other than post) please allow two working days for your prescription to be prepared.

Golden Rules of Ordering

  • Only order what you need – If you don’t need the medicine please don’t order it! If you need the medicine in the future you can still request it and it will not disappear from your repeat list.
  • Check your bag of medication before you leave the pharmacy - Even if you never open them, once medicines have left the Pharmacy, they cannot be recycled or used by anyone else.
  • Order your repeat prescription when you have 10 days of medicine left. This will give your GP Practice and Pharmacy time to process and prepare your prescription and ensure that you do not run out.

Electronic Prescribing Service

This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service.

This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you having to come down to the surgery.

To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask reception to sign up.

Repeat Dispensing Service

If you or someone you care for uses the same medicines regularly, you may be able to benefit from using the NHS Electronic Repeat Dispensing Service.

By using electronic repeat dispensing this will allow your doctor to send a series of repeat prescriptions to your Pharmacy in one go, so there’s no need for you to order them each time.

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. 

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
